Wow, that's some good info. 

I got a firestick and all day today (at Cassville) is was going BOING!  I almost went into a tree on the side of the trail trying to avoid hitting the antenna on a low limb.  I'm lucky I didn't break it today.  Does adding a spring at the base mean I'll have to tune it again?

On an unrelated note by radio antenna broke off today.  Is it possible to use the firestick for both the CB and radio?

Yes, you'll need to retune it, most likely.

No.  In fact, the 2 antennas need to be at least 3' apart.
