The latest in RC Crawling "Pimp Cane"
« on: 12/16/06 - 08:50AM »
Alright I bought the rights to chassis called the Pimp Cane. It's the lightest, lowest COG, Cheapest, and becoming the best chassis for Clod Busters. These things are unstoppable. This isn't mine. As I'm building the ultimate one for myself. When this chassis was design and only a few weeks old it got 6th and 7th place in the Nationals. The guy who got 6th had some elet. problems and couldn't finish the last 2 gates. So he may have pulled off a 2nd or even 1st place win. The points where real close. Anyway here is a video that should blow your mind on how it can crawl. For the price of about two 1/6th Nylints. You can have one of these.

That price is if you find the deals and build it yourself. The chassis only cost $46.50 Shipped on the US. If you take your time and find the deals and search E-Bay you can easliy build one for under or around $300.

I am definately interested.  I love my Nylints but that is insanely sweet.  Why isn't it that easy to build a real rig that can do that.

They are perfect for those long trail rides too. Just throw it in the back and when you stop on the trail. Get it out. It's funny when an RC and crawl up the ledge that stopped your own Jeep.  :agree:  The 2.2 size ones are 12.5in Wheelbase. They are a little cheaper to build. I think they are more fun to drive aswell.

Well I finally got a chance to test this thing out late the other night before it got to dark. All I can say is this thing can crawl.

I had another chance to test the Pimp Cane out some more. This thing is amazing. I'm just not saying that either.  Just watch this new Video I shot today. The first ledge that I dropped of. I used my front digs to stop the rear tires from turning. When I dropped down the rear tires just stay put and allow the Rig to swing over and stay on course. It was almost like some Martix move. Speaking of Martix moves. The last part. And I have no idea how I did this. But I was able to leap over an 8in gap between the rocks. Anyway the Video speaks for itself.

I've gotten alot PM's asking what it cost to build one of these. The prices very alot. A 2.2 which is what the VW bug is. Are cheaper. A super like whats in the first video can add up fast. The super I'm building right now has over $1500 invested. My 2.2 has around $450 or so. But can be built for less. Here is a list of items you would need to build a Clod based Crawler with this chassis

2.2 build cost
Clod axles: Used $80 new $150...E-Bay or www.RC4WD.com
Tires: $30.... www.towerhobbies.com
Wheels: $12 - $20..... www.towerhobbies.com
ESC: $30 - $140.... RCMART.com or www.thecrawlerstore.com
Motors: $40-$50... www.holmeshobbies.com or www.rcpcrawlers.com
Body: $25... www.towerhobbies.com or local hobby store
Motor mounts: $30.... www.thecrawlerstore.com
Pinions: $12.... www.RC4WD.com
Servo: $20-and up.... www.towerhobbies.com or www.hobbypeople.com
Battery packs: $23... www.cheapbatterypacks.com
Chassis: $46-$200.... www.rccrawler.com or www.thecrawlerstore.com

The thing with hobby grade crawlers. There is so many differnt things you can use.  They have to be built since no one makes a ready to run kit. Thats why I like them so much. Anyway I hope this clears the cost issues up some. If you add it all up it may seem like alot, but if you spend 30 bucks here and 20 there over time. It doesn't seem like much. This coming up year there will be some local comps and even more up North. If you have anymore questions feel free to PM me for answers. This are alot cheaper then a real Jeep. Plus are a blast to run on trail runs or out camping.
