Restoration Project

Hello all,
I live in Branson.  I'm looking for advise and where to buy parts for my restoration project.  I have my dad's 56 willy's jeep unfortunatly it's only 2wd.  It was his when he was a teenager.  It has been in our family for 50 years and has sat next to my granpa's barn for the past 35 yrs.  Needless to say it will be a complet frame off.  Hope to find a wealth of info here.

Its going to be hard to find parts at a  salvage yard or something like that. Most parts you will have to find in magazines or buy from an individual. I know where 2 of them are in my town just hanging out in fields. Once in a great while someone drives a fully restored one by my house. Good luck with your project!

I'd personally say ebay is going to be your best bet for some things.  That and perhaps the bigger jeep specific forums.

Thanks guys.  I don't think that this one will go back together 100% original.  I'm actually thinking of putting in a 302 or v6 and auto.  I have the factory 3 speed, but the engine is not with it.  The reason it was parked was due to the fact that my uncle did not put antifreeze in in.  Split the block open.  The motor has long since been done away with.  I don't have much hope of finding a flat head 4 cylinder of that vintage.  However this one has the factory steel top and steel doors which makes it kind of neat.  Majority of the work will be body work.  I don't know about the rear axel yet.  It may need to be replaced with something more modern.  I'm currently still doing research as to what might be available for it, and what is fixable and what is not.
